Stand in Defence

You place yourself between a creature or thing, and those who wish to do it harm. Roll+FOR.

  • Complete Success: Hold 3.
  • Success: Hold 2.
  • Partial Success: Hold 1.
  • Failure: Hold 1, but you cannot react to the target being damaged—only to them being attacked.
  • Complete Failure: You are out of position, and receive no Holds.

If the target is attacked or takes damage, you may spend a Hold to protect them. If you spend a Hold to interfere with an attack, you cannot then spend a Hold to interfere with that attack's damage. In either case, you must choose to interfere before the appropriate roll is made.

Interfering with an attack:

  • Spend a Hold to inflict slight on the opponent's attack roll.
  • If the target can Avoid Danger, spend a hold to grant them favour on their roll.
  • Spend a Hold to redirect the attack to yourself.

Interfering with a damage roll:

  • Spend a Hold to inflict slight on the opponent's damage roll.
  • Spend a Hold to absorb the damage yourself.
