Hurl A Weapon

You throw a melee weapon balanced for flight or a dedicated throwing implement at a target within range. Unlike other attacks, you risk the loss of the weapon itself upon a miss.

Roll+DEX. If the weapon does not have the Thrown property, you suffer slight on the attack roll and can only attack into an adjacent zone. If the weapon does have the Thrown property, you may attack a target two zones away, but suffer slight if you do so. Either way, you no longer have the weapon, and must move to the target zone to pick it up again.

  • Complete Success: A precision strike. Inflict two weapon dice of damage, and you may select a Good Thing from the list below.
  • Success: A solid hit. Inflict two weapon dice of damage.
  • Partial Success: You strike the target, but not well. Choose one of the two following options:
    • Inflict one weapon die of damage.
    • Inflict two weapon dice of damage, but the Director chooses a Bad Thing from the list below.
  • Failure: Your weapon goes off course or is deflected. You miss, and inflict no damage.
  • Complete Failure: A disastrous attempt. You inflict no damage, and must select a Bad Thing from the list below.

Good Things

  • Your weapon impacts at just the right angle. Inflict one additional weapon die of damage.
  • Your foe must roll+BOD to Avoid Danger, or be knocked Prone.

Bad Things

  • The weapon becomes Broken.
  • The foe catches the weapon; they may immediately wield it against you.
  • You strike an ally in the target zone instead of your intended target; they take one weapon die of damage.
  • Your weapon goes considerably wide. The Director chooses a zone adjacent to your target's zone; this is where the weapon lands.
