This is an old revision of the document!

Avoid Falling Damage

You attempt to roll with the fall, reducing the damage you take. If you were ready for the fall, reduce the Falling damage by one die to start with. Roll+BOD.

  • Complete Success: You reduce the Falling damage by two dice. In addition, you may select one Good Thing from the list below.
  • Success: You reduce the Falling damage by one die, or you can take the full Falling damage, but also select a Good Thing from the list below.
  • Partial Success: You reduce the Falling damage by one die. However, your landing is poor, and you must select a Bad Thing from the list below.
  • Failure: You do not land well, and take the full Falling damage.
  • Complete Failure: You land very poorly, and in addition to taking the full Falling damage, you must also select a Bad Thing from the list below.

Reductions to Falling damage dice are done before the dice are rolled. Reducing Falling damage to zero dice, or less, means that you take no Falling damage. However, under normal circumstances, you still fall Prone.

Note that Falling damage is its own specific damage type!

Good Things

  • You manage to avoid falling prone, or else you roll quickly to your feet.
  • You reduce the Falling damage by a further die.
  • If there was a foe below, you fall on them, and they take the same amount of damage as you do.
  • If you end up taking no damage, then you managed to grab something, and didn't actually fall.

Bad Things

  • The fall knocked the wind out of you. You become Stunned.
  • You lose your grip on one item held in hand, and it falls to the ground.
  • You smash one item that you are carrying on your person. It becomes Broken.
