Avoid Danger

Often, a threat will not target you directly, but will instead affect an area, and you happen to be within that area. When that happens, you will usually have a chance to Avoid Danger. The source of danger should state what attribute you need to roll.

  • If the hazard is one that can be dodged, Roll+AGI.
  • If the hazard is one that can be toughed out or resisted through physical endurance, Roll+BOD.
  • If the hazard is one that can be resisted through willpower, Roll+CHA.
  • If the hazard can be avoided through proper knowledge, Roll+EDU.
  • If the hazard can be avoided easily if it is seen coming or via quick thinking, Roll+FOR.
  • Complete Success: You avoid the danger entirely. Choose a Good Thing from the list below.
  • Success: You avoid the danger.
  • Partial Success: You avoid the danger, but the effort costs you. Choose one Bad Thing from the list below.
  • Failure: You fail to avoid the threat and are affected as normal.
  • Complete Failure: You fail to avoid the threat, and are affected as normal. Furthermore, you must choose one Bad Thing.

Good Things

  • You find a perfect opening; you gain favour on your next activity against the source of the danger.
  • You reposition yourself advantageously, moving to an adjacent zone without provoking a Counterattack.

Bad Things

  • You place yourself in a bad position. Describe what happens to you, or where you end up.
  • You lose your footing and become Staggered until the end of your next turn.
  • An item you are holding is dropped or damaged in the scramble.
  • You don't quite avoid the danger. If it inflicts damage, you take half the listed damage.
