You perform a quick ritual to glean information about the future—casting bones, card reading, or dowsing are good choices. You may describe an action you might take, and the Director must tell you if the result of that action would be positive or negative. If the action might provoke die rolls—for example, entering a corridor that has a trap—the Director is permitted to make those rolls on your behalf, and record the results; they must then use those results if you choose to take that action.

When you perform this ritual, make a Spellcasting skill check vs a TN of 15.

  • Success: The Director tells you if the outcome is positive or negative, and may add up to two adjectives or adverbs as well.
  • Failure: You only learn if the outcome would be positive or negative.

The insights of the Augury hold only so long as you are undecided on the action. If you elect to take the action, the outcome is handled exactly as predicted. If you choose not to, the Augury remains valid for a period of ten minutes. After that, the Director will secretly roll 1d6. If the result is odd, the Augury is no longer valid; if even, the Augury remains valid for another ten minutes, and the roll is repeated thereafter.
