Every morning, you may call forth an animal companion. You gain the Ranger class feature, Animal Companion, for the duration of the day. Decisions regarding your animal companion's capabilities are selected each day, when you summon the animal.

Using this spell does not count as meeting a prerequisite for Ranger class features. Therefore, you can never improve your animal companion past its default starting abilities.
