Weapon List
The following is a list of weapons commonly found throughout the Realms, including the Northern Reaches and the Southern Expanse.
Atl-atl: Thrown Weapons, Heavy, d10 Impaling, Ranged, 20sp.
A spear-thrower popular in the Southern Expanse. While it can be held and fired with one hand, it requires a second hand to reload.
Bearded Axe: Unbalanced Weapons, Medium, d8 Slashing, Hafted, 15sp.
This is a battle axe designed to be used in a single hand, but able to be wielded in two.
Billhook: Polearms, Medium Two-Handed, d10 Slashing, Trip, 20sp.
This is a polearm with a hooked blade, used for cutting and tripping attacks. It is very much viewed as the weapon of a peasant.
Bow: Bows, Medium d8 Impaling, Ranged, 15sp.
The standard hunting bow has often been pressed into combat against monsters, especially after the fall of Aranor. It requires two hands to fire, thus getting +1[W] on a hit, but can be carried in one hand alone—even the off-hand.
Broad-Axe: Unbalanced Weapons, Heavy Two-Handed, d12 Slashing, Brutal, 25sp.
This massive two-handed axe delivers devastating blows. It is widely favoured by Trolls and Orks.
Broadseax: Blades or Unbalanced Weapons, Heavy, d10 Slashing, Brutal, 20sp.
A fairly tip-heavy blade, this single-edged weapon walks the line between sword and axe.
Club: Blunt Weapons, Medium, d8 Blunt damage, 10sp.
An arms length of heavy wood, usually with a knot at the far end.
Crossbow: Bows, Heavy, d12 Impaling, Ranged/Reload, 20sp.
Mounting a traditional bow on a stock allows for an easier to learn weapon, though one that is slower firing. Though the bow can be carried in one hand—even the off hand—it requires two hands to use or reload, and therefore inflicts +1[W] on a hit.
Dagger: Blades, Light, d6 Impaling, 5sp.
A common sidearm for many fighters, the dagger is a short, pointed weapon designed to be used in close quarters.
Dirk: Blades, Light, d6 Impaling, Penetrating, 5sp.
Longer than a dagger, and with a more slender blade, the dirk is popular for its ability to exploit the weak points in a target's armour.
Flanged Mace: Blunt Weapons or Unbalanced Weapons, Heavy, d10 Blunt, Penetrating, 20sp.
A product of the most advanced Realms, this variant of the mace is able to rip armour asunder with ease.
Glaive: Polearms, Medium Two-Handed, d10 Slashing, Brutal, 20sp.
A polearm with a single-edged blade mounted on the end of a long shaft. It is frequently viewed as a peasant's weapon.
Greatseax: Blades, Heavy Two-Handed, d12 Slashing, Brutal, 25sp.
At the limits of what can be manufactured even in the more advanced Realms, this long, single-edged weapon requires two hands to effectively wield.
Hatchet: Unbalanced Weapons or Thrown Weapons, Medium, d6 Slashing, 10sp.
A light-weight axe that can be wielded in one hand or hurled at a foe. It is as much a tool as a weapon.
Helbarde: Polearms, Heavy Two-Handed, d12 Slashing, Complex (Brutal or Trip), 35sp.
A versatile weapon with an axe blade and hook at the end.
Inawzi: Unarmed Combat, Light, d6 Slashing, 5sp.
These steel claws, attached to leather hand-wraps, are used to mimic Aruna claws. They are often used by Humans and Dwarves from the Southern Expanse who have studied Aruna unarmed fighting styles.
Javelin: Polearms or Thrown Weapons, Medium, d6 Impaling, Thrown, 10sp.
The preferred missile weapon of the Empire of Aranor. While it can be used in-hand, it is usually thrown until the foe closes, and the wielder then switches to the Langsax.
Langsax: Blades, Medium, d8 Slashing, Ricasso, 20sp.
The standard sidearm of the armies of the Empire of Aranor. Those places that still have the technology to manufacture this double-edged sword guard that technology jealously.
Longbow: Bows, Heavy, d10 Impaling, Ranged, 20sp.
A larger and more powerful bow, typically taller than the archer. Though it can be carried in one hand—even the off hand, despite its mass—it requires two hands to fire, and therefore inflicts +1[W] damage on a hit.
Mace: Blunt Weapons or Unbalanced Weapons, Medium, d8 Blunt, Hafted, 15sp.
A simple yet effective weapon consisting of a metal head mounted on a sturdy handle.
Morning Star: Blunt Weapons or Unbalanced Weapons, Medium, d8 Blunt, Brutal, 15sp.
Adding spikes or knobs to the ball of a mace allows it to inflict more damage.
Pike: Polearms, Medium Two-Handed, d10 Piercing, Reach, 20sp.
A very long spear with a pointed metal tip, used to keep foes at reach.
Prodd: Bows, Medium, d6 Blunt, Ranged/Cheap Ammo, 15sp.
A lighter crossbow, designed to fire lead sling balls instead of crossbow bolts. They are more popular for hunting small game than for warfare. Like a crossbow, they can be carried in one hand, but require two hands to reload or fire, and therefore inflict +1[W] damage on a hit.
Quarterstaff: Blunt Weapons or Polearms, Heavy, d10 Blunt, Hafted, 20sp.
A long staff, well-balanced, two to three meters in length, and wielded in either one or two hands.
Seax: Blades, Medium, d8 Slashing, 10sp.
The length of a man's arm, the standard sword used throughout the Realms is a single-edged straight weapon.
Spear: Polearms, Medium Two-Handed, d10 Impaling, Center Grip (d6 Impaling), 20sp.
A simple weapon consisting of a wooden shaft with a pointed metal tip. Unfortunately, it is not well balanced for throwing.
Sling: Blunt Weapons or Bows, Light, d4 Blunt, Complex (Ranged/Cheap Ammo or Flexible), 20sp.
A strip of leather, used to launch projectiles or (with a bullet still in the pocket) to strike a foe at close range.
Wand: Blunt Weapons, Light, d6 Blunt, 5sp. Sometimes called a Baton, this is a shorter blunt weapon, well balanced. Some Mages use wands as spell foci.
War Hammer: Unbalanced Weapons, Medium, d8 Blunt or Impaling, Versatile, 15sp.
A middle-weight hammer with a spike on the back of the head.
War Pick: Unbalanced Weapons, Heavy, d10 Impaling, Penetrating, 20sp.
A modification of the standard pick axe, used as a weapon.
