Spellcaster's Kit
Cost: 5 sp
Though quite light, the spellcaster's kit is often bulky, and for that reason takes up an entire slot on its own. It will include the following:
- Any documentation needed by the spellcaster, such as a spell book or a book of prayers;
- A magical focus appropriate to the caster.
For Bards, their magical focus will be a musical instrument; for Druids, it will be a sickle, a sprig of mistletoe and a branch of holly; for Mages, it will be their focus of choice from their class feature, Magical Focus; for a Templar, it will be a holy symbol.
Most casters don't actually need this kit to Cast a Spell, but they will suffer slight to any roll associated with Casting a Spell if they don't have it.
Spell Focus
A spellcaster must have their spell focus in hand in order to avoid slight when Casting a Spell.
Sorcerers
With their magic coming from their heritage and their own internal abilities, a Sorcerer does not need this kit, and suffers no penalties for not having it.
