As the clash of steel echoes across the battlefield, the resolve of the warrior ignites within you, fueling your determination to stand firm against the tide of adversaries.

At the start of any battle, you gain a number of points of Grit equal to your current Victories. When you Mark a creature using your Defensive Mark ability, you gain one Grit, to a maximum amount equal to your level.

Whenever you are struck for damage, you may spend any amount of Grit. Each point of Grit that you spend will reduce the damage from that attack by one point per die of damage inflicted.
