Lay Craftsman
Like the Guild Artisan, you were apprenticed at a young age to learn a craft. However, perhaps your craft is not covered by a Guild, or perhaps you simply never joined a Guild. Either way, the lack of income security or powerful patrons may have been a factor in you choosing to take up the life of an adventurer.
When you select Lay Craftsman as your Back-Story, increase your Education by +1. Then choose any other attribute, and increase it by +1 as well. You receive a +1 bonus to your training in Crafting.
Your lack of Guild standing can be problematic, but you gain a certain amount of liberty as a result. When you would lose a point of Prestige from any faction, roll a 4. If the die comes up showing a one, you do not lose that point of Prestige.
