Some scholars believe that at one time, Gnomes and Humans were of the same species. They point to some families of Humans as proof. Somewhat shorter than others, and with slightly pointed ears, these Humans tend to become focused on specific skills, reaching unsurpassed levels. Humans from such families are often referred to as having Gnomish Heritage, though there remains no proof that they are actually descended from Gnomes.

A Human of Gnomish Heritage chooses one non-combat skill, and gains a permanent +1 bonus to its total skill bonus, as though they had the Skill Focus general feature. However, their speed is only five, as they tend to be shorter than other Humans.
