Elf
“We are whispers of the wind and shadows of the trees, eternally entwined with the heartbeat of the world.”
Elves are not born in the traditional sense; they are manifestations of the primal energies that weave through the natural world. Elves are essentially nature spirits encased in a mortal shell, with an innate connection to the rhythms of the earth and the unseen forces that shape it. Though they can be slain, they do not age, and they are immune to all diseases.
Elves are ethereal in appearance, with luminous eyes that reflect the depths of ancient forests. Their skin carries a subtle, ever-changing glow, echoing the seasons and the moods of nature. Elves have an otherworldly grace that seems to defy the laws of physics, allowing them to move through the natural world with a silent and mesmerizing elegance. Their long, pointed ears can catch the most subtle of sounds, and they are able to see in even the dimmest starlight as well as any Human can see at noon.
Though they manifest and present as either male or female, Elves are truly neither, and they do not reproduce in the manner of other beings. Because of this, they do not have familial bonds, and they are very slow to make friends, especially with non-Elves. However, an Elven friend is a friend for life.
Being immortal spirits in a pure, unaging body, Elves do not die of natural causes. However, after three or four centuries of life, most Elves choose to depart the world. They do not view death with any alarm or concern, though they never share their thoughts on the subject with any of their shorter-lived companions.
Attributes
Elves are famous for their grace and their sharp senses. When you select Elf as your ancestry, increase your Agility and Foresight by +1, but decrease your Charisma by -1.
Speed
Elves have a speed of six meters. Their connection to the natural world grants them an uncanny ability to move through dense vegetation without impediment. They may ignore difficult terrain resulting from natural plant growth.
Stamina
Elves are not as robust as Humans. They start with ten stamina.
Languages
The Elven language is a melodic and flowing tongue that mimics the cadence of wind through leaves and the babbling of brooks. When you select Elf as your ancestry, you begin play being able to speak Elven and Trade. You may select additional languages, spoken or written, equal to your Education bonus.
Low-Light Vision
Elves have excellent low-light vision, and treat dim light as though it were bright light.
Spirits in Flesh
Being immortal spirits, Elves never suffer from any effects related to ageing, and are also completely immune to any natural disease. However, if an Elf is slain, neither Phoenix Down nor the Resurrection spell can bring them back. For an Elf, dead is forever.
Natural Affinity
Elves have an intrinsic affinity with nature, allowing them to commune with the spirits of the natural world. When you select Elf as your ancestry, choose one of the six following Nature Affinities.
Aquatic Elf
Aquatic Elves have a deep connection to bodies of water, from serene lakes to roaring rivers to deep seas. They gain a +1 bonus to Dexterity. They also gain a Swim speed of four meters, and can breathe underwater.
Dark Elf
Spawned in the deep places of the world, the Dark Elf has white hair and particularly pale skin. They are blind, but have a tremor-sense that allows them to detect any creature within twelve meters; this allows them to disregard darkness entirely, treating darkness as though it were bright light within that range. They are also more robust than Elves from the surface, gaining a +1 to Body and five additional stamina.
Lunar Elf
Lunar Elves draw power from the celestial bodies, particularly the moon. They gain a +1 bonus to Education and one training rank in Insight.
Peak Elves
Created in the highest mountains, these Elves live a distant, studious life. They gain a +1 bonus to Education and one training rank in Lore. They must choose a specialty for Lore, as per usual. If the Peak Elf receives another training rank in Lore, rather than being forced to choose a different skill, they may elect to add another specialty.
Sylvan Elf
Sylvan Elves are attuned to the essence of forests and woodlands. They gain a +1 bonus to Body and place one training rank in their Stealth skill.
Wetlands Elf
The elven immunity to disease allows Wetland Elves to thrive in places that would be most unhealthy for other ancestries. They gain a +1 to Dexterity and place one training rank in Survival.
