Actions

Anything that you might attempt will require an action to perform. Actions are measured according to the amount of time that they require. For actions normally performed during exploration, rests or down-time, this time is measured in minutes, hours or even days. However, in combat, smaller time units are required.

On your turn, you may choose one of the following options:

  • One quick action and two simple actions, or
  • One quick action and one complex action.

In addition, you receive one Reaction per round, which is replenished at the start of your turn.

Free Action

You may take as many free actions as you wish. However, free actions typically list a trigger or a requirement, which must be met in order to take the free action in question. Each free action may only be used once per trigger, though if you have multiple free actions with the same trigger, you may use all of them when that trigger occurs.

Free actions may be taken outside of your turn.

Reaction

Reactions are similar to Free Actions, in that they list a trigger which must be met. However, you can only take one reaction per round.

Your reaction replenishes at the start of your turn, and you do not receive a reaction when combat starts until the start of your first turn.

Quick Action

Quick actions typically do not require considerable attention or concentration.

Simple Action

Simple actions represent those actions that are the focus of your turn. Attacking a foe is typically a simple action.

You may take a quick action in place of a simple action.

Complex Action

Complex actions require most of your concentration over your entire turn. Because of this, you can only take a quick action, as well as your standard movement, in the same turn that you take a complex action.

Universal Actions
