Now, among the city-states and kingdoms of the Realms are:

Sarpentis, one of the larger kingdoms, originally composed of several fractious city states, that banded together after the Fall. It's known for its arts and sciences. It is a kingdom, ruled by the family of the former Governor of the Sarpentis Province.

Tarquinia, the old capital of Aranor, now reduced to a city-state that must import much of its food. As the home of the Imperial Temple, it is a theocracy, but the Temple has learned that it must moderate its stance when dealing with its neighbours.

Valenora, home to a magical school and Alexandrian-scale library.

Meridia, a prosperous trade alliance of five city-states located along the Verdanus river (on par with the Nile). Its ships ply the Calyxian sea, carrying cargo from the Realms to the Northern Reaches and the Southern Expanse.

Florentis, famous for its orchards. Its artisans are known for their skills. It is the most democratic nation within the Realms, but its position on the Lucentum River has brought smugglers, and the smugglers have brought some corruption.

Thessara, situated on a bay near the Northern Reaches. It is a major producer of metals and coal, but often comes under attack by the Orcus and the barbarians of the Reaches. As such, it has massive city walls, and has grown upward as much as outward. Its culture places great pride in strength and discipline. They rely on Meridian ships for trade, as the forests near Thessara are short, stunted, and full of dangerous beasts.

Ravennia, on an island in the Calyxia Sea. It has a long-standing rivalry with Meridia, and its privateers often target Meridian cogs.

Hildemar, once the bread basket of Aranor, located in the flatlands between the Verdanus and the Alswind rivers. The Druids of the Old Way are most prevalent in this kingdom.

Aulonika, the westernmost part of Aranor, whose culture survived assimilation into the Empire. They remain fierce warriors with a strong sense of honour, and are one of the few nations that welcomes the Orcus among their peoples.

I think that's a good place to leave them. Now, let's move beyond the Realms, and look at the Southern Expanse. The southwestern Expanse are dry, rocky mountains, with one large peninsula jutting out into Calyxia that is reasonably fertile. The south-central Expanse is savannah, with one major river meandering across it. And the southeastern Expanse is lush, tropical jungle.
