Scribe Scroll
Requires: Trained in Crafting, ability to cast spells
The use of special inks, prepared parchments, and a fair bit of magical energy allows you to embed the energy needed to cast a spell into a scroll. These disposable items are very popular among spellcasters as a means of widening their available pool of spells.
Scribe Scroll
Time Required: Special.
Skill: Crafting.
Requires: You are Taking Down Time.
Choose a single spell that you are able to cast, and spend 5sp times the Power of the spell in order to purchase the inks and parchment. Roll Crafting against a TN of 16 plus the Power of the spell. This requires one hour per Power of the spell, which must be taken in a single block of time.
- Success: You have scribed the scroll.
- Failure: An error was made. The scroll will not work. However, you can attempt to correct it.
Correcting a Scroll
A scroll that was improperly scribed can be salvaged. This requires 30 minutes of work per Power of the spell, and the time to perform the correction must be taken in a single block. Roll your Spellcasting skill against a TN of 16 plus the Power of the spell.
- Success: You have corrected the error.
- Failure: You might have made things worse. You gain one Failure Point on the scroll.
You can continue to attempt to Correct a Scroll until and unless the scroll accumulates Failure Points equal to the Power of the spell. If this occurs, then you have ruined the scroll. The magical energy that was stored within it becomes unstable, causing the scroll to be destroyed entirely in some manner consistent with the spell bound to it.
