Before you can play the game, you must first create your character. This is a relatively straightforward process, and should take you about half an hour. If you're new to role-playing, or to Legacy in particular, you might wish to get your GM's assistance.

To make a character, do each of the following:

1. Come up with a character concept.
2. Choose your ancestry.
3. Choose your background.
4. Add a Basic Advancement Trait.
5. Assign your free attribute points.
6. Choose your starting equipment.

While these steps need not be followed in this specific order, it's best to stick to this order if you're new to Legacy. Each step also includes several decisions to be made, such as choosing Skills or Traits.
