Before you can play the game, you must first create your character. This is a relatively straightforward process, and should take you about half an hour. If you are new to role-playing, or to Legacy in particular, you might wish to get your Director's assistance.

To make a character, do each of the following:

1. Come up with a character concept.
2. Assign your attribute points.
3. Choose your ancestry.
4. Choose your background.
5. Add an Apprentice Advancement Trait.
6. Choose your starting equipment.

While these steps need not be followed in this specific order, it's best to stick to this order if you are new to Legacy. Each step also includes several decisions to be made, such as choosing Skills or Traits.
