Elves

Elves are an ancient and noble race, renowned for their grace, agility, and sharp intellect. With a natural affinity for the natural world and a keen sense of perception, they excel in both physical and mental pursuits. Agile and perceptive, Elves often notice the small details that others overlook, making them formidable scouts, archers, and spellcasters. Their long lifespan grants them unparalleled patience and wisdom, allowing them to master arts and crafts over the centuries that most would never live to see perfected.

Despite their many talents, Elves are often seen as aloof and standoffish by other races. They tend to keep their emotions guarded, and their detached demeanor can be misinterpreted as arrogance. They are slow to trust, preferring the company of their kin and often forming tight-knit communities that are carefully protected from the outside world. This elusiveness makes Elves enigmatic to those who do not understand their culture, but those who gain their trust find a fiercely loyal ally. While they may be distant, their deep respect for life and the natural world, coupled with their dedication to preserving harmony, drives their actions. Elves are often called upon to defend the natural world and its balance, standing as guardians of ancient forests, sacred places, and old knowledge that must be protected at all costs.

While Elves may seem aloof and delicate due to their smaller size and graceful demeanour, they are not to be underestimated. Beneath their serene exterior lies a sharp intellect and an unmatched adaptability. Whether navigating the complexities of ancient magics, surviving in the harshest environments, or engaging in battle with unparalleled precision, Elves possess a quiet strength. Their long lives and connection to the natural world have honed their skills, and any who would underestimate an Elf’s resolve quickly learn that their patience can be just as lethal as their speed.

Features

Size: Elves are fairly small compared to humans, averaging 120cm in height and weighing only 40 kilograms. They are Scale -1 creatures. This impacts them in a number of ways:

  • Due to their smaller muscles, Elves suffer a -1 penalty to Athletics skill checks.
  • Any damage dealt by an Elf, whether from a weapon or unarmed combat, is reduced by one point per die of damage rolled.
  • Their smaller frame provides an Elf with a +1 bonus to Reflex defence and a +2 bonus to Stealth.
  • Elves need much less material to cover themselves, so they pay half as much for armour.

Walking Speed: 6 meters. Despite their shorter stature, Elves are remarkably quick.

Stamina: Elves begin play with 20 Stamina, plus an amount equal to their Strength bonus.

Recovery Dice: Elves begin play with two six-sided (2d6) Recovery dice.

Skill Training: Choose three of the following skills: Acrobatics, Arcana, Blades, Bows, Lore, Nature, Perception, Stealth, Survival. You get one training rank in each of the chosen skills.
