Tiers

Foes are split into five Tiers, depending on how difficult they are to fight.

Mooks

Mooks are the lowest Tier of foe. Though they are as accurate and often as hard-hitting as their more capable counterparts, Mooks are very fragile. Under most circumstances, they can be slain with a single good hit. However, it is important to note that a Mook does not take damage from a miss.

To create a Mook, build the foe as per usual, but add only one feature per level, instead of two. These features may be selected from either the foe's ancestry or their class, as you see fit. When the foe is complete, divide its stamina by five.

When building an encounter, you can safely replace one Regular with four to six Mooks.

Regular

A foe built strictly according to the rules in this document is a Regular. They are generally on par with a player character, but with somewhat less stamina.

As a rule of thumb, one Regular foe of the same level, or one level lower, per player character in the party is a reasonable encounter, worth one Victory.

Boss

Bosses are larger and tougher than Regulars, and are often found in command of a small force of such. One Boss will replace two Regulars in a balanced encounter.

To construct a Boss, use the rules as written, but increase the Boss's highest and lowest attributes by +1 each. Then double their final stamina. A Boss starts with, and can retain, Power equal to its Level plus one.

Solo

A Solo monster is a suitable challenge, all by itself, for four to six player characters of the same level. They are not typically found as leaders, but rather serve as standalone threats.

To construct a Solo, build the foe as per usual, but give it +1 to all of its attributes. Give it one additional feature per level, chosen from either its ancestry or its class list. Then multiply its stamina by five. A Solo starts with, and can retain, Power equal to twice its Level.
