Construct
It is very common for a spellcaster to animate an object and set it to a task. Sometimes, this task is something harmless, such as a broom that sweeps the floor endlessly, or a chair that walks under its own power. But sometimes, the task is infiltration, assassination or straightforward combat.
Being inanimate objects that are given the semblance of life via magic, Constructs have no minds of their own. They are Controlled by their creator, and cannot deviate from their instruction. Of course, if their creator is no longer among the living, a Construct may still attempt to carry out its last instruction.
Constructs are Mindless, and cannot be affected by any sort of mind- or emotion-controlling effect. They do not feel pain in the slightest, and so no effect that inflicts pain will destroy them. Finally, they cannot be healed, and are not subject to any magics that affects the target's life force. While a Construct can be repaired, the repair work can never reach the quality of the original material, and so eventually, a Construct will cease to function.
Attributes
By default, Constructs are Small, but still gain a +1 bonus to Body due to their overall toughness. Being mindless, they suffer a -1 penalty to Education, and Education must always be their lowest attribute. They gain a +1 bonus to Foresight and Agility.
A Construct cannot become trained in any Education-based skill, unless it has the Enhanced Construct feature.
Statistics
Constructs start with ten Stamina, and have a Speed of four.
Material
The material from which a Construct is built will have an impact on their capabilities.
Bone
Frequently mistaken for an undead horror, a Bone Construct is resilient, swift and very dangerous. They gain a +1 bonus to their Agility and to their Speed. Increase their starting stamina by five. Bone Golems gain Resistance 2 to Impaling damage, but Vulnerability 2 to Blunt damage.
Clay
A Construct composed of clay is remarkably easy to mold, allowing the creator to give their creation remarkable flexibility. However, it is less robust than many other forms, though unlike many other Constructs, it is able to repair itself. A Clay Construct gains a +1 bonus to Dexterity, and recovers one stamina per hour so long as it has access to soil and water.
Crystal
Despite its fragility, crystal is a popular choice for Constructs due to its ability to store magical energy. A Crystal Construct gains a +1 bonus to its Foresight, and despite being Mindless, is permitted to select the Spellcaster class. They gain Resistance 1 to Impaling and Slashing damage, but Vulnerability 2 to Blunt damage.
Iron
A Construct composed of iron can deflect physical damage with ease, but is weak to certain types of energy. They gain a +1 bonus to their Agility, and gain Resistance 1 to all Physical damage. However, they also gain a Vulnerability 1 to Acid, Heat and Lightning damage. Increase their starting stamina by ten.
Stone
A perennial favourite of Construct creators, stone is very resilient, though slow and cumbersome. A Stone Construct gains Resistance 1 to all damage except Thunder, and increases its starting stamina by fifteen, but its speed is reduced by one.
Wood
Remarkably resilient, and surprisingly quick, a Wood Construct is often disguised as furniture or other household items. They gain Resistance 1 to Impaling damage, and increase their starting stamina by five. They also gain a +1 bonus to speed, and automatically receive training in Stealth (or a +1 bonus to their Stealth, if their Class gives them training in Stealth).
Features
All Constructs begin with one training rank in two skills of their creator's choice. In addition, for each level at which the Construct was built, the creator may add one of the following features.
