Intent: Oatmeal stout.

Grain Bill

  • 2250g Briess 2-row barley malt.
  • 450g Simpsons roasted malt.
  • 450g Crystal 120L.
  • 450g Munich.
  • 450g flaked oats.

Non-Grain Ingredients

  • 500g demerera sugar.
  • 28g Fuggle hops.
  • 11.5g SafAle S-04.
  • 300ml espresso.

Process

Sterilized everything the night before, left to air out overnight. 15 litres in large kettle; 8 litres in small kettle. Mash-in at 69°C, temp dropped to 67°C. Started an infusion of the hops. Maintained mash at 67°C. Mashed for 60 minutes.  Lautered and started the boil.
