Intent: Oatmeal porter.
Grain Bill
- 1350g 2-row barley malt.
- 900g Munich malt.
- 450g Chocolate malt.
- 450g Flaked oats.
Process
Strike water was 70°C. Dropped to 68°C after adding the grains. Kept it between 65° and 70° throughout a one-hour mash—mostly between 65°C and 67°C.
Specific Gravity before fermenting is 1.039.
Batch turned sour. I suspect I didn't sterilize hard enough. Had to dump it. Oh well. Live and learn.
