A quick whispered spell allows you to detect all living creatures within ten meters of yourself. Note that this only detects living animals or beings; it will not work on plant life (unless said plant is sentient), nor the undead, nor on magical constructs. Also note that while it detects that there are living creatures, and how many, it does not tell you where they are or how far away they are.
