You create two illusory doubles of yourself. These duplicates will remain adjacent to you at all times, and will mimic all of your actions. However, if they are attacked, they are instantly dispelled.
When you are attacked, if either die of the attack roll shows a value equal to or less than the number of illusory doubles remaining, the attack hits an illusory double. That double is destroyed, and you take no damage. When all doubles are destroyed, the spell ends.
Aria casts Mirror Image, creating two duplicates of herself. On her next turn, she is attacked by a goblin. The goblin rolls an 8 and a 1. Since 1 is less than or equal to 2, the attack strikes a duplicate, destroying it. Against the next attack, only a 1 will strike the remaining duplicate.
Recast: If you Cast this Spell again before a previous casting ends, you gain one additional duplicate.
