Basilisk Venom is a caustic neurotoxin and clotting inhibitor, providing three different ways of causing pain and death. It is, of course, completely illegal in any civilized Realm.
As an Oil, it can be applied to an arrow as a two-second action, but it will corrode and destroy the arrow within ten seconds of application. Therefore, the arrow must be immediately used. It can also be applied to a weapon as a six-second action, but will destroy any melee weapon within twenty seconds. One vial contains enough venom to coat three arrows or one melee weapon. Because the Venom is caustic, even blunt weapons can impart this deadly poison.
Carrying a Basilisk Venom Bomb is risky, but such a weapon can be dreadfully effective. Foes in the area affected by the Bomb may make an Agility saving throw to avoid being touched by the poison.
Any person who makes contact with the Venom, either by being hit by a Bomb or being struck by a weapon coated in the substance, becomes Poisoned 2d8.
