Choose a college of magic associated with your spell focus: Charms or Glamerie for Amulet, Divination or Wards for Orb, and Creation or Jinxes for Wand. You may prepare one additional spell of each Power that you can cast, but the additional spells must be prepared from the selected college.
Thern is a Level 2 Mage who uses a wand as his spell focus. If Thern had chosen to become a magical specialist, he could choose either Creation or Jinxes as his specialist college. If he chose Jinxes, then he could prepare a total of three Power 1 and three Power 2 spells each day. However, one spell of each Power would have to be a Jinx.
However, Thern is already an Arcane Universalist, so this option is closed to him.
