You change the equipment held in your hands. With this action, you can do any or all of the following, in any order, all as part of the same action:

Put an item away from each hand;
Equip an item to hand from your inventory;
Place two hands on a weapon, or take one hand off.

Realizing that the Baron is a skilled opponent with his daggers, Sir Roland decides he needs some extra defence. He chooses to Change Equipment. He removes one hand from his langsax, and then readies his kite shield from his inventory.
