Attributes

The Nexus Framework has six attributes: Agility, Body, Charisma, Dexterity, Education and Foresight.

Agility measures a character’s overall speed, reflexes, and coordination. It governs the ability to make and dodge attacks, move gracefully in combat or exploration, and react quickly to sudden threats. High agility enhances both athletic feats and stealthy maneuvers.

Body represents a character’s physical resilience, stamina, and raw toughness. It affects resistance to injury, disease, and fatigue, as well as the capacity to endure harsh environments. A strong body allows a character to carry heavy loads and survive strenuous activity.

Charisma defines a character’s personal magnetism, presence, and persuasive ability. It influences social interactions, negotiation, leadership, and the capacity to inspire or manipulate others. Charisma can turn potential enemies into allies and foster trust in uncertain situations.

Dexterity reflects fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and precision. It governs tasks requiring accuracy and control, such as lockpicking, sleight-of-hand, or aiming a ranged weapon. High dexterity enables smooth, deliberate actions under pressure.

Education represents a character’s formal and informal knowledge, learning capacity, and understanding of the world. It affects problem-solving, scholarly pursuits, and skill acquisition. Well-educated characters can analyze situations, recall facts, and make informed decisions more effectively.

Foresight measures a character’s intuition, perception of patterns, and ability to anticipate future events. It guides planning, hazard recognition, and strategic thinking. Characters with strong foresight are often prepared for dangers before they arise and can make choices that minimize risk.

Value and Modifier

Each attribute has two numbers associated with it: its value and its modifier. An attribute's modifier is determined by its value, as covered in the table below.

6–9 -1
10–14 +0
15–20 +1
21–27 +2
28–35 +3
36–44 +4
45–54 +5

Starting Attribute Values

A character in The Nexus Framework begins with the following attribute values:

22 18 15 11 8 4

However, their ancestry will add to each of these values.

These six starting values represent the character’s base potential before ancestry adjustments. Each value is assigned to one attribute of the player's choice at character creation, reflecting relative strengths and weaknesses. No single value may be assigned to more than one attribute, and all six values must be used.
