====== Make a Request ====== **Time Required**: 1 minute\\ **Skill**: Varies You make a request of the subject. This might be a plea for aid, a request for an item or asking permission to do something. Roll unbound:skills:Diplomacy or unbound:skills:Intimidation vs. the subject's Charisma defence. Your roll is modified by the subject's temporary Affinity, but the character cannot Make a Request of a creature that is Hostile or Enraged. If the subject is a member of a faction towards which you have Prestige, you may add your Prestige to your skill check. In addition, the nature of the request will modify your Skill check. ^Condition ^ Modifier ^ |The request would be trivial for the subject to grant | +3 | |It would be in the interest of the subject to grant the request | +4 | |The request would be difficult for the subject to grant | -3 | |Granting the request would not be in the subject's best interest | -4 | |Granting the request would cause the subject harm, or significant risk of harm | -8 | * **Success**: The subject grants the request. * **Failure**: The subject either refuses, or they respond with a request of their own. You may expend one point of an appropriate Prestige to turn this into a **success**. **Special**: If you used Intimidation on the attempt, the subject's temporary Affinity towards you drops one step immediately upon completing this action. ===== Equipment ===== No special equipment is required to Make a Request. However, if you are using Diplomacy in the attempt, you may expend unbound:equipment:consumables#Luxury Items, to a maximum of 15sp, to improve your chances. The amount of gift items you spread out determines the bonus you receive for doing such, as described below. ^Amount | 1sp | 3sp | 6sp | 10sp | 15sp | ^Bonus | +1 | +2 | +3 | +4 | +5 | Aria wants access to some obscure documents, and approaches the curator of the priory's abbey to request access. She has +1 Academic Prestige, and the Director agrees that this is an appropriate Prestige. The curator has a Charisma defence of 12. Aria is not trained in Diplomacy, and so suffers slight to her skill check. She rolls a three, a four and a seven, and must discard the seven, leaving her with a total (with her +0 Charisma and +1 Prestige) of eight. Even though the request would be trivial for the curator to grant, he instead asks her to retrieve a stolen document from a band of goblins before he accedes to her request.
