You adopt a disciplined stance that maximizes the defensive potential of your shield.  Entering the stance is a two-second action.  While in the stance:
  * The base damage of any attack that hits you is reduced by two points (//before// the degree-of-success multiplier is applied).
  * You may still use reactions to block attacks.
  * The stance remains active until you drop your shield or assume a different stance.
